The Caribonum factory of 1918 (now demolished) was an early commission for Wallis Gilbert and Partners. Thomas Wallis’s enthusiasm for Egyptian styling (his first proposals for Caribonum had more) predates the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922 and the Art Deco exhibition in Paris of 1925.
