Famous people who came from our area
Stuart Freeborn, film make-up artist, was born on 5 September 1914 at 351 Grove Green Road, Leytonstone. His family seems to have moved soon afterwards to Beckenham, Kent. Stuart Freeborn devised the make-up for Alec Guinness as Fagin in Oliver Twist, and characters in Star Wars including Chewbacca and Yoda. He died in February 2013.
